Alexis M Stewart is both a community planner and architectural designer, aspiring to revitalize desolate lands throughout the county. Having encountered the effects of blight within Chicago’s Englewood community, Alexis pursued a practice in architecture. In 2014 Alexis graduated from ACE Technical Charter High School salutatorian of her class, receiving a full paid scholarship to study Architecture at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. She received her Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies in 2018 having undergone years of professional involvement with the City of Chicago, UChicago, and Back of the Yards Neighborhood Council (BYNC). Following her bachelor’s degree Alexis began working for the Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (CERL). Alexis worked two years providing research towards military engineering services for the United States Airforce and Army. This opportunity would pay for Alexis’s tuition to earn a master’s degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. As of May 2020, Alexis graduated with a Master of Urban Planning with concentrations in Community Development.
